It does wear a bit thick and kinda heavy, It is a quality product for the low price you are paying for this sweater... It is not at all itchy like most "wool like" sweaters it feels course to the touch like wool but wears soft not itchy...

I terms of performance I’ve worn the sweater in 33degree East coast weather with just a tee shirt and was ok running errands so it keeps you warm enough for store hoping in the cold
